Located in the heart of Alberta's fertile prairie farmlands, we are a specialty producer of world-class dog and cat foods with a unique focus on ingredients grown, raised or fished within our region.
We own and operate our own world-class pet food factory here in Alberta, where ORIJEN is produced and packaged exclusively and—unlike most other pet foods—ORIJEN is never made or re-packaged in any facility other than our own! As exporters to some 45 countries worldwide, our facilities, ingredients and products meet every known pet food regulation and standard in the world.
As a boutique producer we don’t use inexpensive commodity ingredients from distant suppliers we don’t know and will never meet. Instead, we focus upon federally inspected, human-grade ingredients grown, raised or fished on local farms and regional lakes and delivered to our factory fresh each day.
Indeed, all ORIJEN formulas start with fresh, never-frozen grain-fed chicken, turkey and whole eggs delivered fresh from local prairie farms, or Lake Whitefish, pickerel, lake trout and freshwater cod, wild-caught using sustainable harvesting practices from the icy depths of our northern lakes.
To preserve their natural goodness and taste, these world-class ingredients are delivered FRESH each day, and are steam-cooked at low-temperature (90C/195F) in small batches the day they arrive.
After all, it is with our own dogs and cats in mind that we developed ORIJEN—a food that puts “nature” back into “natural” and nourishes all dogs and cats as Nature Intended.

Farm-Fresh Regional Meats
With 3 fresh, chemical free meats (human grade) from Alberta grain-fed chickens, fresh-caught Lake Whitefish and fresh whole eggs, ORIJEN foods contain the highest fresh meat inclusions of any dry pet food – all low temperature cooked at 90c to preserve their great taste and nourishment. .
Biologically Correct High Protein-Low Carbohydrate Formulas
ORIJEN’s high protein, low carbohydrate foods match the anatomical specialization of dogs and cats to an almost exclusively meat based diet.
This specialization is evident in the length of the gastro-intestinal tract, the structure of their teeth and jaws, and their lack of the digestive enzymes needed to break down starch.
Essential Oils
ORIJEN is infused with essential oils from chicken, salmon, anchovies and herring, flax and sunflower. This combination of fats and oils provides an ideal natural blend of Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids, including high levels of DHA and EPA
Grain Free
Instead of inappropriate cereal grains, ORIJEN is made with fruits, vegetables and botanicals produced on western Canada’s fertile farmlands and pacific orchards.

Natural And Organic Minerals
Unlike typical commercial pet foods, ORIJEN does not contain minerals as sulfates and oxides. ORIJEN contains all minerals in organic form, with calcium and phosphorus naturally present from the meat concentrated formulations - just like nature intended.
