meet the council

Champion’s Transparency Council, the first of its kind in the pet food industry, is a unique, four-person committee of outside third-party experts and Pet Lovers. The group will be given access to each step of Champion’s product creation process and encouraged to provide candid, periodic reports to the public on what they’ve learned. By building a council comprised of unbiased, respected pet food industry experts, as well as everyday pet food consumers, Champion is openly backing up its stated vision of being Trusted by Pet Lovers Everywhere.

We believe that transparency enhances public trust. The Transparency Council is committed to reporting their findings in an open, transparent, and accountable manner, making every effort to provide the public with as much information as possible, while encouraging readers to reach out and give feedback. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: April 2019 – Inaugural Council Meeting

When I was asked to join Champion’s Transparency Council, I had several thoughts. First, is this just another marketing gimmick by another pet food company to try to sell its food to an uniformed public?
DR. CLAYTON GREENWAY, DVM
Dr. Clayton Greenway hosts the veterinary call-in show “Animal House” on Toronto’s Newstalk 1010. Dr. Greenway practices at West Hill Animal Clinic in Scarborough, Ontario and is a lead veterinarian and Development Director for VetStrategy, Inc.

THE QUESTION I’M ASKED MOST: April 2019 – Inaugural Council Meeting

As a veterinarian, I get asked this question all the time and I know why. Loving pet owners just don’t know where to find answers and if they do, they struggle to believe them.
ANDREA COFFMAN, PET LOVER
Andrea Coffman is a devoted Pet Lover from Oklahoma. Andrea’s journey on understanding the important role of pet nutrition and health was a result of her puppy’s seizures. Above all else, Andrea values real, quality ingredients for her dog’s diet.

I CAME WITH QUESTIONS / THERE’S A REASON: April 2019 – Inaugural Council Meeting

I am pleased to report that I was genuinely impressed by the warmth and transparency of the staff, the quality of the kitchens, and the integrity of the company as a whole.
APRIL SCOTT, PET LOVER
April Scott is an avid Pet Lover from Ontario, Canada. Having had a puppy with unknown food sensitivities, April devoted herself to researching and better understanding the connection between quality food ingredients and her dog’s better health and wellbeing.

IS CHAMPION EARNING OUR TRUST?: April 2019 – Inaugural Council Meeting

Champion may have the distinction of being one of the most awarded pet food companies in this business, but even so it’s really important to be transparent.
